Unite and TrichoPel improve establishment in areas of apple replant disease

Using Agrimm products at planting is a great way to establish beneficial fungi in and around the rootzone and increase early trunk and shoot growth.

Specific Apple Replant Disease is a big problem when re-establishing an orchard.

Sterilising the soil is expensive and leads to a lack of biological activity in the soil that can easily be colonised by pathogens.

Using Agrimm products at planting is a great way to establish beneficial fungi in and around the rootzone and increase early trunk and shoot growth.

In this trial, trees of MM102 rootstock were grown in soil that contained SARD.

Replant rootstock plants were planted in 3.5L pots containing soil excavated from a SARD orchard.

They were grown up for 12 months, planted in January and growth assessments were made after 24 weeks.

Treatments were applied to soil pre-planting, at planting and post-planting.

Trichopel was used at 5g/pot.

Unite was used at 5g/L per pot as a pre-plant drench and again after 89 days as a follow up.

Increase in growth compared to control (%)

All treatments significantly increased the total shoot extension.

Unite drenches on top of the Trichopel at planting increased the cross sectional area of the trunk.
